The Storage Ability of Broccoli after 1-Methylcyclopropene Treatment

نویسندگان

چکیده

Abstract The study evaluated the effect of 1-methylcyclopropene (1-MCP) treatment on broccoli quality and storage ability. Broccoli ‘Parthenon’ was treated day after harvest with 1.0 or 3.0 cm 3 ·m −3 1-MCP. performed at 5 °C for 20 h, then plant material stored 0–1 30 60 d. After d refrigerated storage, transferred to conditions simulating retail (15 °C) 6 During crowns maintained excellent quality. fleshy stalks were slightly inferior due darkening leaf scar areas. d, there a marked reduction in Still, positive 1-MCP observed as inhibiting senescence remaining petiole fragments. shelf life days cold retained better stems, evident six evaluation. did not find that inhibited respiration rate broccoli, ethylene production.

Methyl Jasmonate and 1-Methylcyclopropene Treatment Effects on Quinone Reductase Inducing Activity and Post-Harvest Quality of Broccoli

Effect of pre-harvest methyl jasmonate (MeJA) and post-harvest 1-methylcyclopropene (1-MCP) treatments on broccoli floret glucosinolate (GS) concentrations and quinone reductase (QR, an in vitro anti-cancer biomarker) inducing activity were evaluated two days prior to harvest, at harvest and at 10, 20, and 30 days of post-harvest storage at 4 °C. MeJA treatments four days prior to harvest of br...

Combination of 1-methylcyclopropene treatment and controlled atmosphere storage retains overall fruit quality and bioactive compounds in mango.

BACKGROUND Postharvest application of fungicide prochloraz and hot-water dip are commercially practiced to control postharvest diseases in mangoes. Owing to the increasing consumer demand for organically produced fruit, the search for natural environmentally friendly alternative products and processes has become important for the fruit industry. This study evaluated the combined effect of 1-met...

Inhibition of ethylene action by 1-methylcyclopropene prolongs storage life of apricots

‘Perfection’ apricot fruit (Prunus armeniaca L.) were treated with 1 ml l 1-methylcyclopropene (MCP) for 4 h at 20°C then stored at 0 or 20°C. The onset of ethylene production was delayed and respiration rate was reduced following MCP treatment. MCP treatment resulted in less firmness and titratable acidity loss during storage at both temperatures and delayed production of volatile alcohols and...
